Selphyl

The Facial Plastic and Laser Surgery Center is pleased to introduce a unique new injectable filling agent called SELPHYLSELPHYL has been labeled the "Vampire Facelift" but is actually not a Facelift at all.  The SELPHYL process is a completely natural injection technique utilizing a sample of the patient's own blood products called platelets and combining this with a fibrin matrix to create a scaffold for new tissue growth.  The platelets contain growth factors which stimulate new collagen production with the fibrin matrix.  The whole process takes only about 20 to 30 minutes and involves a simple process of removing a sample of blood which is then centrifuged, allowing separation of a platelet rich plasma from the other blood products.  This platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PFRM) can then be safely injected back into the patient's target areas for both volume restoration and skin rejuvenation.  There is then a progressive two to three month gradual synthesis of new collagen in the target area.  The results are long-lasting and exceed one year in most instances.  Simple local anesthetic is all that is required.  Areas of the face and hands can be treated.

There is also great potential to improve the results of fat transfer using the SELPHYL system combined with the patient's own fat cells.  Current studies are showing enhanced volume and fat survival over time.
