Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)
Blepharoplasty is surgery performed for both the upper and lower eyelids to improve the appearance. It is commonly recognized that the eyes tend to show aging prior to other areas of the face. This can be manifested as a tired appearance due to excessive sagging of the skin, loss of the lid crease, and puffiness or pseudoherniation of fat in the upper and lower lids. The procedure upper blepharoplasty corrects the hooding and pseudoherniation and reestablishes a natural upper lid crease. A lower eyelid lift can be performed from an external incision or from inside the eyelid using a transconjunctival approach, along with correction of the bags and even repositioning of fat to improve the contour of lower lid hollows called the nasojugal tear trough. Blepharoplasty is the most frequently performed operation by Dr. Putman and by most facial plastic surgeons.
